National Police Service Medal

On 11 December 2013, Her Majesty The Queen approved an amendment to the National Police Service Medal Regulations 2010 to extend the eligibility for the Medal to recognise service on or after 14 February 1975.

The National Police Service Medal recognises the unique contribution and significant commitment of those persons who have given ethical and diligent service as a sworn member of an Australia police service.

Award of the Medal

The Governor-General awards the National Police Service Medal on the recommendation of the Commissioner of the Australian police force of which the person is, or was last, a member.

The National Police Service Medal may be awarded posthumously.
