At the Australian Defence Force Academy, Campbell ACT, Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended the 2007 Graduation Parade of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, reviewed the Parade, presented the Commander-in-Chief’s Medal and delivered the address.

At the Royal Military College of Australia, Duntroon, ACT, Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery attended the 2007 General Service Officers’ Graduation Parade, at which the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, reviewed the Parade and presented the Sword of Honour and The Queen’s Medal, and afterwards presented Commissions and Graduate Certificates to Staff Cadets.

At Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery received the Prime Minister-elect, Mr Kevin Rudd MP and Ms Therese Rein. The Governor-General administered: the requisite Oath of Office as Prime Minister of Australia to Mr Rudd; and Executive Councillor Oaths to Mr Rudd and Ms Julia Gillard. Afterwards, the Governor-General presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council and on the recommendation of the Prime Minister, signed the instruments of revocation and appointments for the Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries to their respective new offices.
