As Patron of Foodbank Australia, the Governor-General welcomed donors and supporters of Foodbank at a reception at Admiralty House, Sydney. The reception followed a visit to Foodbank in New South Wales on February the 16th at Wetherill Park.

The Royal District Nursing Service is celebrating its 125th anniversary. The Governor-General and Mr Bryce paid a visit to the home of one of the Service's clients, 88 year old Mr Len Ralph. Over tea, Mr Ralph discussed his family, his career as an engineer, and his relationship with the nursing service.

As patron of Foodbank Australia, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce went to the headquarters of Foodbank's New South Wales operation in Wetherill Park, Sydney.Ms Bryce was taken through the stores by the General Manager of Foodbank NSW, Mr Gerry Andersen,before meeting some of the day's volunteers.

The Governor-General hosted a reception for members of the Australian British Chamber of Commerce at Admiralty House. Ms Cas Benetto, the former Executive Director of the Chamber, Mr David Slessar, National Chairman of the Chamber, and Ms Alice Ilich joined Ms Bryce and Mr Bryce on the terrace.

The Governor-General encouraged all Australians to support research into breast cancer when she launched the 2010 Mothers Day Classic Walk and Run at Admiralty House in Sydney.A regular participant in the Walk, Ms Bryce welcomed the funds raised every year for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. The audience heard the story of Mr Lindsay Mullins, who became Victoria's highest fundraiser after his wife died of breast cancer.

In Melbourne, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a remembrance service for the victims of the Victorian bushfires, on the first anniversary of the disaster. Ms Bryce joined hundreds of people affected by the fires in a moving service at St Paul's Cathedral led by the Dean of the Cathedral, the Reverand Doctor Mark Burton.
