Vietnam Veterans' Remembrance Day Service

18 August 2010

The sound of an F-111 RAAF aircraft accompanied the unveiling of plaques for Australian airmen, Flying Officer Michael Herbert and Pilot Officer Robert Carver, at the Vietnam Veterans’ Remembrance Day Service in Canberra.

The remains of both men were found in Vietnam last year and returned to Australia. The event also marked the 44th anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan.

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE joined hundreds of veterans, family members and guests at the Australian Vietnam Forces National Memorial on Anzac Parade.
