The Governor-General attends the Centenary celebrations of the North Queensland Amateur Turf Club

It was a day of fashion, fillies and community celebrations at the Townsville Amateurs’ Centenary Race Meeting in northern Queensland, with the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE as special guests.

They joined around 3000 members of the Townsville community in celebrating the North Queensland Amateur Turf Club's historic milestone.

Ms Bryce received the Royal Salute on arrival by the 1st Battalion band of the Royal Australian Regiment and presented the Centenary Amateurs Cup to winner Magnum 44.
