Investiture at Government House

At a ceremony at Government House, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, invested 45 Australians with Honours awards at Government House.

Professor Valerie Beral, the Hon. Stephen Bracks, Mr James Fairfax, Mr Harold Mitchell and Mr Graeme Samuel were invested as Companions of the Order of Australia.

Ms Bryce also recognised the bravery of four Surf Lifesavers, Mr Scott Meaker, Mr Anthony Rettke, Mr Cameron Rettke and Mr Shayne Rettke with a Group Bravery Citation, and Mr Robert Brown with the Bravery Medal, for their involvement in the Tathra Wharf tragedy on 18 November, 2008.
