Opening of the First Session of the 43rd Commonwealth Parliament

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, officially opened the forty-third Commonwealth Parliament from the Senate Chamber in Parliament House, Canberra.

Ms Bryce addressed Senators, Members of Parliament and the public during the ceremony, which concluded with a 19-gun salute in front of Parliament House.
