National Police Remembrance Day Memorial Service

29 September 2010

Police officers and community members stood together as the sun set on Lake Burley Griffin, Canberra to remember officers who dedicated their lives to law enforcement.

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as Patron of the National Police Memorial, joined the ceremony at Kings Park to commemorate the lives that were lost on duty.

A minute’s silence was observed before Ms Bryce laid the first wreath at the Memorial, which was followed by dignitaries and guests, including the family of the late NSW Police officer Detective Constable William Crews.
