Governor-General joins 100 year celebration of Sir Douglas Mawson expedition

The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce marked 100 years since Sir Douglas Mawson departed from Hobart for his historic expedition to Antarctica.


Ms Bryce, who is Patron of the Mawson’s Huts Foundation, joined over 600 people for a centenary dinner at the Hotel Grand Chancellor in Hobart.


Dinner attendees included descendents of team members involved in the expedition which left Tasmania on 2 December 1911.
