On Australia Day, the Governor-General inspected the Federation Guard, then joined the Prime Minister at a citizenship and flag raising ceremony at Regatta Point in Canberra.

Ms Bryce led the affirmation as 77 new Australian citizens from 23 countries received their certificates. They ranged in age from babies to 84.
