Nobel Laureate Professor Elizabeth Blackburn was invested as a Companion in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AC) at Admiralty House in Sydney.

Professor Blackburn was awarded the AC for eminent service to science as a leader in the field of biomedical research, particularly through the discovery of telomerase and its role in the development of cancer and ageing of cells. The Award was announced on Australia Day 2010.
