Over 350 people were silent as former refugee Mr Tibo Rogers recounted his experience during conflict in Sierra Leone before the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, at the World Refugee Day Breakfast hosted by Australia for UNHCR.

18 June 2010

The day also marked the organisation’s 10th anniversary, and Patron Ms Bryce noted the times that she had seen refugees in Africa and Afghanistan.
“There are many experiences of refugees that wealth and stability and advantage almost preclude us from comprehending,” Ms Bryce said.
“But I know that Australians understand the common human story, and can readily feel the desperation and loss when it unravels for another.”
