ADVICE FROM THE SOLICITOR-GENERAL TO THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL, HER EXCELLENCY MS QUENTIN BRYCE AC

The Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Mr Stephen Brady, stated today that the Governor-General had received advice from the Solicitor-General of Australia, Mr Stephen Gageler, SC, in relation to Her Excellency’s personal position in the current political circumstances.

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, unveiled the new National Service Memorial at the Australian War Memorial in Canberra, and paid her respects to the 212 National Servicemen who lost their lives fighting for Australia. Ms Bryce laid a wreath at the Memorial, during a service attended by an estimated 6,000 people. Ms Bryce and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE joined servicemen and their families after the unveiling.
