MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL OF THE SOLOMON ISLANDS

My wife Marlena joins me and all Australians in extending our deepest sympathy to you and the people of the Solomon Islands following the devastating effects of Monday’s earthquakes and tsunami.

Australians have been shocked and saddened by the tragic loss of life and injuries sustained by your citizens in this natural disaster.  We are particularly saddened to hear of the devastation around Gizo and the western province.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your government, and the people of the Solomon Islands at this very difficult time.
