GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO TOUR MURRAY DARLING BASIN

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, will visit locations within the Murray Darling Basin (MDB) over several weeks, in her first official tour since being sworn in on September the 5th.

Her Excellency will begin her visit to the MDB in Bourke, New South Wales and travel to Goolwa, the mouth of the Murray, between October the 5th and the 11th.

The second stage of the visit, between October the 20th and the 24th, will include Albury-Wodonga, Shepparton, Echuca and Deniliquin.

The media is invited to cover all or parts of the tour, which will focus on the communities and families in the Murray Darling Basin.

Specific day by day programming is being finalised and those details will be released closer to the departure dates. However, for the purposes of your forward planning, the relevant dates and locations are:

October 5/6 – Governor-General arrives and tours Bourke, NSW

October 7/8 – Governor-General arrives and tours Broken Hill and Menindee Lakes, NSW

October 8/9 – Governor-General arrives and tours Mildura

October 10 – Governor-General arrives in Adelaide and tours Goolwa

October 11 – Governor-General returns to Canberra


October 20/21 – Governor-General visits Albury Wodonga, NSW

October 22 – Governor-General visits and tours Shepparton, Victoria

October 23 – Governor-General visits Echuca and Deniliquin

October 24 – Governor-General tours Deniliquin and returns to Sydney
