MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL, MS QUENTIN BRYCE AC, ON THE DEATH OF NANCY BIRD WALTON OBE

I was saddened to hear of the death of Nancy Bird Walton, who inspired generations with her extraordinary spirit of adventure. I always enjoyed listening to her hair-raising stories from her barnstorming days. Nancy Bird’s wisdom, wit and delightful charm will be remembered by many Australians. She was very generous with her time, even in her latter years, through her commitment to speaking engagements at numerous fund raising events. My thoughts are with her family, who have lost a great Australian.
