Mildura Accident

At this time of great sadness, my wife Marlena joins me and all Australians in expressing our heartfelt sympathy to you all following the accident that has cut short the lives and injured so many of your friends.

This tragedy has deeply affected not only immediate families and loved ones, but the whole Mildura community and indeed the nation. It is now so important to comfort those around you and to give and draw strength from one another.

During our visit to Mildura last year Marlena and I enjoyed hearing from many of you about your community, your hopes and aspirations. In these very difficult days ahead remember your friends and the special memories that they evoke.

Marlena and I hope you will be comforted also in the knowledge that you are in the nation’s thoughts and prayers at this distressing time and that those who have passed on are now in a place of eternal peace and tranquillity.
