As Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force I extend my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Warrant Officer Class 2 David Nary.

His death in a vehicle accident during a training activity in the Middle East is profoundly sad.

My thoughts are also with his many friends in the Special Air Service Regiment. They accept the risks without complaint and will be united in their determination to honour his commitment to duty and his country.
