MEDIA ADVISORY GOVERNOR-GENERAL TO REPRESENT AUSTRALIA AT GALLIPOLI

The Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, will represent Australia at Anzac Day ceremonies on April the 24th and 25th, as part of an Official Visit to Turkey.
Segments of the Governor-General’s program which may be of interest to the media include:
Saturday April 24:
- 09:00 - Turkish International Service at Mehmetcik Abide (Turkish International Memorial)
- 11:35 – the French Memorial Service, Morto Bay
- 12:20 – the Commonwealth Memorial Service, Cape Helles
- 13:05 – tree planting ceremony at Kabatepe
- 14:30 – 16:30 – Governor-General to visit the Anzac Commemorative Site, the Ari Burnu Cemetery, Lone Pine and The Nek. Ms Bryce will be available for interview during this period (location is weather-dependent and TBA)
Anzac Day:
- 05:30 – Dawn Service, Anzac Commemorative Site
- 09:30 –Australian National Ceremony, Lone Pine
- 11:15 – Governor-General attends Turkish National Ceremony
- 12:00 – Governor-General attends New Zealand National Ceremony, Chunuk Bair
Wednesday, April 28:
- 09:15 – Governor-General to visit Anitkabir (Ataturk’s Mausoleum), Ankara
- 10:00 – Governor-General meets H.E. Abdullah Gül, President of the Republic of Turkey, Presidential Palace, Ankara
- 11:45 – photo opportunity with President Gül
