MEDIA ADVISORY: Death Of Australian Soldiers In Afghanistan

The Governor-General and Australia’s Commander-in-Chief, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, has expressed her grief over the death today of two Australian soldiers in Afghanistan.

Ms Bryce honoured the soldiers during a speech marking Australia’s National Day at the World Expo in Shanghai today.

“As I represent my country at the wonderful festivities today, I wish to pause to express the grief of my fellow Australians at the tragic death of two heroic young Australians in Afghanistan,” Ms Bryce said.

“They died through battle, upholding the finest traditions of the Australian Defence Force and, like all those before them, gave their lives for the values Australians always have, and will always hold close,” she said.
