New Government House website
12 July 2010
The Office of the Official Secretary to the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC, has an updated website.
The Office's Official secretary, Mr Stephen Brady, said the website would provide easier navigation to information including the Governor-General’s Program, photos of events in the program, speeches and details of the Honours and Awards system.
“The website (www.gg.gov.au) is very popular, with an average of 1.2 million ‘hits’ and 1.3 million page impressions every month. In June, there were more than 2.6 million ‘hits’, and we hope the site will become even more popular in its new format’, Mr Brady said.
“The role of the Governor-General is central to our system of government, and the new design will enable visitors to learn more about the Constitution, the Honours and Awards system, the role of the Office and the Governor-General’s activities”, he said.
“There will be a strong emphasis on visual material, in the form of photographs and video presentations, to appeal to younger visitors”, Mr Brady said.
