more »An Ecumenical Service of rememberance for the 14 young people from Australia who died in the canyoning tragedy in Switzerland, will be held at St Christopher's Cathedral, in the Canberra suburb of Manuka, on Monday, 9 August, at 12 noon.
The Service has been arranged at the request of the Governor-General, Sir William Deane, who returns to Australia on Sunday from Switzerland where he and Lady Deane attended an Ecumenical Service at Interlaken, near the scene of the tragedy.
It was probably the worst loss of young Australians in a single peacetime incident outside this country.
Representatives of the Government and the Opposition, Members of Parliament and Senators, representatives of the Diplomatic Corps and Canberra churches will attend the service. A warm invitation is extended to all members of the public who would like to attend.
