VISIT TO GREECE BY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL AND LADY DEANE - 7th to 12th MAY 2000

Following an invitation from the President of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, Mr Lambis Nikolaou, the Governor-General and Lady Deane will travel to Ancient Olympia in Greece to attend, at noon on Wednesday 10th May, the Ceremony of the Lighting of the Olympic Flame for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

Associated with this visit, Sir William and Lady Deane will also make an official visit to Greece at the invitation of the President, His Excellency Mr Constantinos Stephanopoulos.

Sir William and Lady Deane will be in Greece from Sunday, 7th May until Friday, 12th May. The itinerary for the visit is attached.

During Sir William's absence from Australia from 6th to 13th May, the Governor of Tasmania, His Excellency the Honourable Sir Guy Green AC, KBE, CVO will be the Administrator of the Commonwealth.
