NEPALESE ROYAL FAMILY TRAGEDY

The Governor-General and Lady Deane have expressed their profound shock and sadness at the tragic news from Nepal.

They met His Royal Highness Crown Prince Dipendra on a number of occasions during last year's Olympic Games.

"He came across as an engaging young man with high hopes for his country."
Sir William recalls.

"On behalf of all Australians, I send our deep sympathy to the remaining members of the Royal Family and to the people of Nepal."
