On Thursday, 14 December 2000, at the Australian Defence Force Academy, Canberra, the Governor-General, Sir William Deane, as Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Force, reviewed the 14th Graduation Parade of Midshipmen and Officer Cadets and presented prizes of excellence for each Service, the Sword of Honour for Leadership, and the Commander-in-Chief's Medal.

On Tuesday, 12 December 2000, at the Royal Military College of Australia, Duntroon, the Governor-General, Sir William Deane, as Commander-in-Chief of the Australian Defence Force, reviewed the 2000 General Service Officers' Graduation Parade, and presented The Sword of Honour and The Queen's Medal. Following morning tea with graduands at Duntroon House, Sir William presented Commissions and Graduates Certificates to Staff Cadets.
