more »On Thursday, 30 January, 2003 at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Dr Peter Hollingworth, received from His Excellency Mr Milivoje Glisic Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Radomir Jergic, (Counsellor) and Mrs Jasmina Gavrilovic-Tarle (Attache) Embassy of the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. Dr Hollingworth and Mrs Hollingworth also received Mrs Vida Rakic-Glisic.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the bereaved and all those suffering as a result of this terrifying inferno - as well as to the fire fighters and other emergency services as they continue to tackle the blaze and its devastating results."

more »On Monday, 20 January 2003, the Governor-General, Dr Peter Hollingworth and Mrs Hollingworth visited victims of the Canberra Fires and volunteers at the Evacuation Centres at Narrabundah College and Phillip College. Afterwards, Dr Hollingworth and Mrs Hollingworth toured home sites affected by fires and spoke with residents in the Weston Creek area.

Later, at Lake Ginninderra College, Belconnen, they visited volunteers and victims of the fires at the Evacuation Centre. Afterwards, at Canberra Hospital, Woden, Dr Hollingworth and Mrs Hollingworth visited staff at Emergency.
