On Thursday, 29 May 2003, at Government House, Canberra, following the resignation of the Right Reverend Dr Peter Hollingworth, AC, OBE, as Governor-General and the subsequent revocation of his Commission, the Honourable Sir Guy Green, AC, KBE, CVO by Proclamation resumed the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia.Later, at Government House, Canberra, Sir Guy received from His Excellency Mr Jorge da Conceicao Teme Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Abel Guterres, Consul-General, Sydney and Ms Madalena Filipe Alves, Second Secretary, Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. Sir Guy and Lady Green also received Mrs Maria Teme. Afterwards, Sir Guy received from Her Excellency Mrs Virginia M. Weeden de Acosta Letters of Credence accrediting her as Ambassador of the Republic of Panama. In the afternoon, Sir Guy and Lady Green hosted a Luncheon, guests at which were: the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and Mrs Maria Teme; the Ambassador of the Republic of Panama; the Honourable Alexander Downer, MP; General Peter Cosgrove, AC, MC, and Mrs Lynne Cosgrove; and Mr Peter Grey.
