On Wednesday 23 June 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received the Chair of The Australian and New Zealand Association for the Advancement of Science, Mr Mike Murray; and members Mr Russell Newman, Ms Connie Woodberry, and Professor Philip Poronnik.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE received the Senior Australian Army Representative of the Australian Fromelles Project Group, Major General Mike O'Brien (Ret'd), and Project Manager, Lieutenant Colonel James Brownlie. Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Australian Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, Mr Peter Heyward. Later, the Governor-General received the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, His Excellency Dr Jose Ramos-Horta. In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a State Dinner in honour of the President of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.
