Applying for patronage

The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley serve as Patron of organisations who do amazing things each and every day.

As Patrons, Their Excellencies they take an active role by promoting organisations, celebrating staff, supporters and volunteers, attending events and hosting groups at Government or Admiralty House.

Organisations can apply at any time for patronage from the Governor-General, Mrs Hurley or both, and should seek to demonstrate:: 

• a clear focus on relevant issues or interests of national significance
• a significant record of achievement over at least five years; and
• sound financial management and strong governance arrangements.

The Governor-General will not accept invitations for patronage from professional bodies, non-incorporated entities (such as projects, scholarships and memorials), and local organisations based outside the Australian Capital Territory.
