Background

After recipients are announced (in either the January or June) they are invited to attend a ceremony at Government House in the State or Territory in which they reside.

The Governor-General, state Governor or the Administrator of the Northern Territory present the awards in the presence of the recipient's guests.

Ceremonies are recorded and streamed so that recipients can share their special moment with family, friends and loved ones.
