On Wednesday 29 March 2006 at Government House Canberra, the Governor-General His Excellency Major General Michael Jeffery AC CVO MC received from His Excellency Mr Kofi Sekyiamah Letters of Commission accrediting him as High Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana. The Ambassador was accompanied by: Mrs Amma Twum-Amoah (Minister/Counsellor); Mr Peter Taylor (First Secretary); and Mrs Phileta Odonkor (First Secretary, Administration), High Commission for the Republic of Ghana.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Dr Hernani Coelho Da Silva Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Abel Gutterres (Consul-General), Sydney Consulate-General; and Mr Lisualdo Gaspar (Second Secretary), Embassy of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste. In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Jeffery hosted to lunch: High-Commissioner for the Republic of Ghana; Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste; Mr Geoffrey Allen and Mrs Elizabeth Allen; Mr Angelo Augello; Professor Sam Blay; Mr Mick Caratti and Ms Teresa Ruane; Mr Doug Chester; the Honourable Alexander Downer, MP, and Mrs Nicky Downer; Ms Dorinda Hafner; Mr Jaime Leong; Mr Nelson Leong; Mr Stephen Levitt; Senator Nigel Scullion; and the Honourable Warren Snowdon.
