Building Literate Nations National Forum
On Tuesday 19 October 2010, at the University of Technology Sydney, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC, as guest of the Director of the Australian Centre for Child and Youth: Culture and Wellbeing, Professor Rosemary Johnston, officially opened the Building Literate Nations National Forum.
Later, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General, as Patron, received the Founding Director of Youth Insearch, Mr Ron Barr AM, and Mrs Judith Barr.
In the evening, at Admiralty House, Sydney, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a dinner. Guests included: Ms Di Drew; Rear Admiral Stephen Gilmore AM CSC RAN and Mrs Kate Gilmore; Mr Paul Kelly and Dr Margaret Kelly; Mr Phil Kearns and Mrs Julie Kearns; Mr Cameron Kerr and Dr Tracy Wilcox; Mr Peter Kingston; Ms Sally MacDonald and Mr Wayne Markman; Ms Monica McMahon; Mr John Morschel; Mr Michael Rose; Mr Rowan Ross and Mrs Annie Ross; Professor John Shine AO and Mrs Kathleen Shine; Mr Arthur Sinodinos AO and Ms Elizabeth Sinodinos; Professor Jonathon West and Mrs Susan West; and Professor George Williams.
Earlier, at the Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the Mother of the King of the Kingdom of Tonga, Her Majesty Queen Halaevalu Mata'aho, by Commander Gavin Baker ADC RAN, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
