On Tuesday 18 August 2020, at Government House, Canberra, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley met with Dr Mitra Safavi-Naeini, Imaging Quantification Research Lead, ANTSO, and members of the Elavo Hackathon Team, via video conference, to discuss Elavo’s victory in the global SpaceApps COVID-19 Challenge.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Meadowbank Public School via video conference for a Q&A session.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Ivan Slavich, CEO, Soldier On, attended a morning tea in tribute to Private Robert Poate at the Robert Poate Centre.
Then, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the French Republic.
Afterwards, the Governor-General met with Mr Peter Fitzpatrick AO AM (Mil), Chairman, and Ms Belinda Wilson, CEO, Bravery Trust via video conference.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Cr Rose Hodge, Mayor, Surf Coast Shire Council, via video conference to discuss the impact of COVID-19.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Cr Anna Reynolds, Lord Mayor, City of Hobart Council, via video conference to discuss the impact of COVID-19.
