On Monday 8 December 2025, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, received Mr James Yeomans, Ambassador – Designate to Peru.

Then, the Governor-General placed a phone call to Mayor Lawrie McKinna, Mayor of Central Coast Council, following the weekend bushfires impacting parts of New South Wales. 

Then, the Governor-General, as Patron, Royal Far West, hosted a morning tea in celebration of the centenary of Royal Far West Canberra. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, as Prior of the Order of St John, hosted a St John Investiture for Ms Ruth Jones.

Then, the Governor-General, hosted a lunch for His Honour Professor the Honourable Hugh Heggie AO PSM, Administrator of the Northern Territory. Guests included: Ms Ruth Jones; Mr Craig Kitchen MVO, Official Secretary to the Administrator of the Northern Territory; and Major Scott Bailey, Aide-de-Camp to the Administrator of the Northern Territory.

Afterwards, at the Australian National University, Canberra, the Governor-General, as Patron-in-Chief and guest of Matt Linnegar, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Rural Leadership Foundation, opened the Leadership Development Summit.
