On Sunday 25 January 2026, the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, as guest of Her Excellency Ms Arjaree Sriratanaban, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand, attended the Consecration Ceremony of the Buddhavasa Precinct in Canberra.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr John Foreman AM, Board Chair, National Australia Day Council, attended the Australian of the Year Awards at the National Arboretum, Canberra.
