On Tuesday 5 May 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC received the Honourable Anthony Albanese, Prime Minister of Australia.
Then, the Governor-General and His Excellency Mr Simeon Beckett SC, received Letters of Credence, accrediting His Excellency Mr Piseth Nom as the Ambassador of Cambodia. The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Mrs Sreyroth Sum, Mr Sambath Lim, Counsellor, Ms Nika Vadhana, First Secretary and Captain Sothearak Soth, Defence Attache.
Afterwards, Their Excellencies received Letters of Credence, accrediting His Excellency Mr Nagesh Singh as the Ambassador of India. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Irina Thakur, Deputy High Commissioner, Captain Rohit Raymond Kattoju, Defence Attache and Mr Nandulal Bhookya, First Secretary.
Later, Their Excellencies met students and teachers from Sandringham East Primary, Sandringham East, Victoria.
Then, Their Excellencies received Letters of Credence, accrediting His Excellency Dr Jonathan Thuto Mahlanza as the Ambassador of Botswana. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Collen Koone Diane, Counsellor and Mrs Khumoetsile Sethibe, First Secretary.
Afterwards, the Governor-General met students and teachers from St Columba Anglican School, Port Macquarie, New South Wales.
Later, the Governor-General received a phone call from Councillor Asta Hill, mayor of Alice Springs, Northern Territory.
In the afternoon, Their Excellencies hosted a lunch for newly accredited Heads of Missions. Guests included: His Excellency Piseth Nom and his spouse Mrs Sreyroth Sum, His Excellency Mr Nagesh Singh and Mrs Irina Thakur, His Excellency Dr Jonathan Thuto Mahlanza and Mr Collen Koone Diane. Also in attendance were Her Excellency Ms Betty Pavelich, Dean of the Diplomatic Corp, Ms Michelle Chan, representing the Foreign Minister, and Mr Jonathan Muir, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Then, the Governor-General recorded a video message for National Tree Week.
