On Wednesday 27 May 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, hosted the swearing-in of Ms Farzian Zainal as the Administrator of the Indian Ocean Territories, during a ceremony at Government House, Canberra. 

 

Then, the Governor-General, hosted the swearing-in of Ms Fiona McKergow, as the Administrator of Norfolk Island, during a ceremony at Government House, Canberra. 

 

Afterwards, Their Excellences, the Governor-General and His Excellency Mr Simeon Beckett SC greeted Their Excellencies, the Right Honourable Dame Cindy Kiro GNZM QSO, Governor-General of New Zealand and Dr Richard Davies at a Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony at Reconciliation Place, Canberra.

 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Concordia College, Highgate, South Australia. 

 

Then, Their Excellencies received His Excellency Mr Daniel Sloper PSM, High Commissioner to New Zealand and Mr Craig Chittick OAM, Deputy Head of the Office of the Pacific, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.   

 

Afterwards, Their Excellencies welcomed the Governor-General of New Zealand and Consort to Government House, Canberra.

 

In the evening, Their Excellencies received the Governor-General of New Zealand, Governor-General of New Zealand Consort, His Excellency Mr Daniel Sloper PSM, Mr Craig Chittick OAM, His Excellency Mr Andrew Needs, New Zealand High Commissioner to Australia and Ms Alice Aben, Official Secretary to the Governor General of New Zealand.

 

Then, Their Excellencies hosted the Governor-General of New Zealand, Governor-General of New Zealand Consort, His Excellency Mr Daniel Sloper PSM, Mr Craig Chittick OAM, His Excellency Mr Andrew Needs, New Zealand High Commissioner to Australia and Ms Alice Aben, Official Secretary to the Governor General of New Zealand for a house and grounds tour of Government House, Canberra.

 

Afterwards, Their Excellencies hosted the Governor-General of New Zealand and Consort overnight at Government House, Canberra.
