On Tuesday 11 August 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, received Her Excellency Gillian Bird, Australian Ambassador to Vietnam, and Ms Michelle Chan, Deputy Secretary, South and Southeast Asia Group, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Then, the Governor-General hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for His Excellency Mr Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. 

Afterwards, His Excellency Mr Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was invited to sign the visitors book. 

Later, the Governor-General received His Excellency Mr Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. 

Then, the Governor-General placed a telephone call to His Excellency Mr Diego Felipe Cadena Montenegro, Colombian Ambassador to Australia

Afterwards, the Governor-General met students and teachers from All Saints College, Bullcreek, Western Australia, as they undertook a tour of Government House, Canberra. 

Later, the Governor-General received Professor Jessica Dempsey, 

Director-General; Dr Sarah Pearce, Low Telescope Director; and Professor Naomi McClure-Griffiths, Chief Scientist, SKA Observatory.

Then, the Governor-General recorded a video message for Business New South Wales.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General hosted a State Lunch in honour of His Excellency Mr Tô Lâm General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Then, the Governor-General met students and teachers from Annandale Christian College, Aitkenvale, Queensland, as they undertook a tour of Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received His Excellency the Honourable Mr Keith Pitt, Australian Ambassador to the Holy See.
