On Monday 17 August 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, as guest of the Honourable Milton Dick, Speaker of the House of Representatives attended the welcome reception for the 2026 Youth Parliament at Parliament House in Canberra. 

Then, the Governor-General as guest of Dr Bobby Cerini, Deputy Director and General Manager, Science and Learning, virtually launched the Governor-General’s Design Challenge during National Science Week 2026 at Questacon. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General placed a telephone call to Her Excellency Caroline Wells AC, Governor of Tasmania. 

In the evening, the Governor-General received The Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime-Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia. 

Then, the Governor-General received The Honourable Milton Dick MP Speaker of the House of Representatives and various Members of Parliament to deliver the House of Representatives Address-in-Reply.
