On Tuesday 18 August 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, as guest of Commander Ward Gainey RAN Ret’d attended the Vietnam Veterans Remembrance Service and 60th Anniversary of the Battle of Long Tan at the Australian Vietnam Forces National Memorial, Canberra.

Then, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Geraldton Grammar School, Geraldton, Western Australia whilst they undertook a tour of Government House, Canberra. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Honorary Officer of the Order of Australia recipient, Dr Ng Eng Hen, at Government House, Canberra. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General as guest of Mr Hamish McIntyre, President, attended the 2026 National Farmers Federation Leaders’ Summit at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.
