On Thursday 20 August 2026, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council with Senator the Honourable Murray Watt and The Honourable Clare O’Neil MP. 

Then, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Lake Munmorah, New South Wales whilst they undertook a tour of Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, the Governor-General hosted a morning tea for inaugural members of the 2026 National Youth Parliament.

Later, the Governor-General received Ms Annabelle Wilson, Veterans Family Commissioner, Department of Veterans Affairs.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General hosted a dinner for Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia.
