On Thursday 22 January 2026, the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, received a video call from Mr Shawn Flegler, Head of Performance Women’s Cricket; Mr Luke Humphries, Acting Head of Government Relations; and Mr Callum McIlveen, Acting Senior Manager Government Affairs, Cricket Australia.

Then, the Governor-General travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory to Sydney, New South Wales. 

In the morning, the Governor-General was represented at the State Funeral of the Honourable Nick Bolkus by Brigadier Tim Hanna AM ADC, Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Governor-General, at Adelaide University, South Australia.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General visited Mr Ya'akov Tetleroyd, in Bondi.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as guest of Chabad of Bondi, attended and observed the National Day of Mourning for the victims of the Bondi Beach terrorist attack, at the ‘Light Will Win - A Gathering of Unity and Remembrance’ memorial event at the Sydney Opera House.
