On Monday 26 January 2026, the Governor-General, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, as guest of Mr John Foreman AM, Board Chair, National Australia Day Council, attended a Welcome to Country ceremony at Nerang Pool, Commonwealth Park, Canberra.

Then, as guests of Mr John Foreman AM, Board Chair, National Australia Day Council, the Governor-General attended the National Citizenship and Flag Raising Ceremony at Rond Terrace, Canberra.

Later, the Governor-General travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Sydney, New South Wales. 

In the evening, the Governor-General, as guest of Councillor Bilal El-Hayek, Mayor of the City of Canterbury-Bankstown, attended a Citizenship Ceremony in Bankstown
