On Thursday 28 May 2026, Her Excellency, the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC presided over a meeting of the Federal Executive Council with the Honourable Ms Catherine King MP and Senator the Honourable Mr Don Farrell. 

Then, the Governor General and His Excellency Mr Simeon Beckett SC as guest of Mr Matt Anderson PSM laid a wreath at the Hall of Memory and toured the ANZAC Atrium at the Australian War memorial, Canberra.

Afterwards, the Governor General recorded a video message for Fight MND – Big Freeze. 

Later, Their Excellencies hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for Their Excellencies the Right Honourable Dame Cindy Kiro GNZM QSO, Governor-General of New Zealand and Mr Richard Davies, the Governor-General of New Zealand Consort at Government House, Canberra.

Afterwards, The Governor-General of New Zealand and Consort were invited to sign the visitor book. 

In the afternoon, Their Excellencies hosted a State Lunch in honour of the Governor-General of New Zealand and Consort, at Government House, Canberra.

Then, Their Excellencies, as guests of Mr Nick Mitzevich, toured the Ngura Puḻka – Epic Country Exhibition at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies, as guests of the Ngunnawal Nation, attended a walking tour of country and culture at Mulligans Flat Sanctuary, Canberra. 

Later, Their Excellencies farewelled the Governor-General of New Zealand and Consort at Royal Australian Air Force Base – Fairbairn. 

In the evening, Their Excellencies travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory to Sydney, New South Wales.
