On Wednesday 20 April 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Tamworth, New South Wales.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Russell Webb, Mayor, Tamworth Regional Council, attended the unveiling of the John Williamson AM Bronze Statue.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Spiros Coutroubas, Photographer, attended an exhibition of portraits and street scenes taken at the 1992 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Webb, attended a Civic Reception.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Noelene Bosworth, Director, Tamworth Regional Conservatorium of Music, attended a performance by members of local youth choirs.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Webb, met with vendors and performers participating in the 2022 Tamworth Country Music Festival.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley as guests of Councillor Webb, Mayor, attended the 50th Golden Guitar Awards.
