On Thursday, 7 August 2025, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, His Excellency the Honourable Chris Dawson AC APM, presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council with the Honourable Madeleine King MP and the Honourable Patrick Gorman MP. 

Then, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, as guest of Colonel Amanda Johnston, Defence Adviser to Sri Lanka and Maldives, attended a wreath laying ceremony at Borella Cemetery.  

Afterwards, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr Anuk Weerasinghe, Managing Director, Colombo Academy of Hospitality Management, attended a roundtable discussion with Australian and Sri-Lankan education providers. 

Later, the Governor-General, as guest of Mr Romesh David, Chief Executive Officer, South Asia Gateway Terminals, attended a tour and business lunch at the Port of Colombo. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General, attended a meeting with President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.  

Afterwards, the Governor-General attended a meeting with Prime Minister Doctor Harini Amarasuriya. 

In the evening, the Governor-General, as guest of His Excellency Mr Paul Stephen, Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, attended a reception with political, government, business and diplomatic leaders.
