Credentials Ceremonies; Lunch in Honour of Ms Jan Fullerton AO; Australian Institute of Architects 2010 National Architecture Awards and Dinner

On Thursday 28 October 2010, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received from His Excellency Mr Pedro Monzon Barata, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Reinaldo Lázaro García Perera (Consul-General). The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Celia Oliva Velazco.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Mrs Rima Ahmad Alaadeen, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. The Ambassador was accompanied by Dr Ali Kraishan (Counsellor) and Ms Iman Alami (Attaché). The Governor-General and Mr Bryce also received Mr Ghadian Daban.

Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Yuming Chen, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Liang Hong (Minister-Counsellor), Mr Ming Zhou (Defence Attaché) and Mr Deya Qiu (Minister-Counsellor). The Governor-General and Mr Bryce also received Ms Xiaomei Bai.

Then, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Rubem A Corrêa Barbosa, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Maria Helena Penna (Minister-Counsellor), Mr Julio Laranjeira (Minister-Counsellor) and Mrs Beatriz Laranjeira (Attaché and Vice-Consul). The Governor-General and Mr Bryce also received Mrs Lenise Corrêa Barbosa.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General hosted a lunch in honour of Ms Jan Fullerton AO. Guests included: Ms Margy Burn; Mr Michael Byrne; Ms Jasmine Cameron; Dr Warwick Cathro; Ms Marie Coleman PSM; Mr Mark Corbould; Ms Dale Forrest; Ms Pam Gatenby; Ms Virginia Haussegger; Mrs Jan Killer; Ms Helen Kon; Mr Gerry Linehan; Air Vice-Marshal Margaret Staib AM CSC; Professor Margaret Thornton; Ms Judy Waters and Mr Robin Nielsen; and Ms Cindy Young.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce hosted a reception in honour of the Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba, the Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China, and the Ambassador of the Federative Republic of Brazil.

In the evening, at the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Mr Bryce, as Patron, attended the Australian Institute of Architects 2010 National Architecture Awards and Dinner.
