Honiara, Solomon Islands; Apia, Samoa

On Friday 30 June 2017, at Mercy School, Honiara, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development, Dr Franco Rodie, officially opened new classrooms and met with staff and students.

In the afternoon, at Faleolo International Airport, Samoa, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the Independent State of Samoa by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Independent State of Samoa, the Honourable Fiame Naomi Mata'afa MP.

Afterwards, in Apia, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove received the Australian High Commissioner to the Independent State of Samoa, Her Excellency Ms Sue Langford.

In the evening, at the Head of State’s residence, Apia, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Head of State of the Independent State of Samoa, His Highness Tui Atua Tupua Tamasese Efi and Her Highness Masiofo Filifilia Tamasese.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Their Highnesses, attended an official dinner.
