On Friday 28 January 2011, at the Executive Building, Brisbane, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC received a briefing on the flood recovery in Queensland by the Premier, the Honourable Anna Bligh MP.

Afterwards, at Roy Harvey House, the Governor-General received a briefing on the flood recovery in Brisbane by the Lord Mayor, Councillor Campbell Newman.

Later, at Springwood, the Governor-General opened a new building in recognition of the Islamic Women’s Association of Queensland’s 20th anniversary.

Then, at the Mecure Hotel, Brisbane, the Governor-General officially opened the 2011 National Women’s Royal Australian Air Force Reunion in recognition of their 60th anniversary.
