La Chaine des Rotisseurs dinner; 20th Anniversary of Kuwait's Liberation; President of the Republic of Iraq; Youth of Kuwait Operetta

On Saturday 26 February 2011, at Bennelong Restaurant, Sydney, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO and Sir Nicholas Shehadie AC OBE, attended a La Chaine des Rotisseurs dinner.

Earlier, in Kuwait City, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, attended a military parade to mark the 20th Anniversary of Kuwait’s Liberation.

During the course of the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with a number of foreign dignitaries including the Presidents of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Lebanese Republic, and Republic of Turkey; the King of Spain; the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines; the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs for Japan; and the Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staffs for the United States of America.

Later, at Bayan Palace, Kuwait, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce met with the President of the Republic of Iraq, President Jalal Talabani.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce called on the Emir of the State of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah and attended an Operetta performed by the Youth of Kuwait and an official dinner hosted by the Emir.
